Description
Plot Summary
This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by American novelist Dennis Lehane. In 1954, federal police officer Teddy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his partner Chuck (Mark Ruffalo) boarded a ship to investigate a mysterious disappearance case at the Detention Island Psychiatric Prison near Boston. Rachel (played by Emily Mortimer), a female prisoner who was born with her own flesh and blood, mysteriously escaped from the heavily guarded cell and hid deep in the island. Teddy suspects that the chief psychiatrist of the prison, John Cowley (played by Ben Kingsley), intentionally concealed the truth and revealed to Chuck that his true purpose on the island was to find the administrator who set fire to his wife Delores (played by Michelle Williams) and expose the US government's crime of using mentally ill prisoners for human science experiments. But as the investigation gradually deepened, the truth became increasingly elusive
