Plot Summary

Ancient Japan entered the Edo period, during which the Tokugawa shogunate closed its doors and maintained a peaceful isolation from the outside world and absolute rule of the shogunate. The fifth shogun, Tsunayoshi (played by Yokosuke Tagawa), accompanied by Yoshiyoshi Ueno (played by Tadahida Asano), visited the Boshu Akatsugu Domain led by Takeshi Asano (played by Akira Tanaka). Kira is cunning, narrow-minded, and ambitious. He uses the enchantress Miyuki (played by Rinko Kikuchi) to deceive the lord of the Asano domain and orders her to wield a sword at Kira. The enraged general ordered Asano to commit seppuku and strictly prohibited the retainer of the Akatsugu clan, Daishi Uchida (played by Hiroyuki Sanada), from seeking personal revenge. The arrogant warriors were instantly reduced to ronin, while the half blood prince (Keanu Reeves) freely adopted by the lord was subjected to unfair treatment.
