Plot Summary

Renowned documentary director Ken Burns' documentary on the Vietnam War was aired on PBS television in the United States in 2017, consisting of 10 episodes with a total duration of 18 hours. It interviewed nearly 80 eyewitnesses from all sides, including both American and anti war participants, as well as military and civilians from South and North Vietnam. This film has been produced for ten years, collecting information from around the world, including numerous visual and re digitized image archives, as well as the most famous photographic photographs and family films of the 20th century, historical news clips, and secret recordings within the government. With the release of the documentary 'The Vietnam War' by PBS, we are able to revisit that era of division. For those who lived during that period, it will forever be imprinted in their hearts. From 1962 to 1971, the US military sprayed a chemical agent called defoliant on forests in Vietnam. This defoliant was used to make Vietnam's lush forests barren, thereby depriving the North Vietnamese military of its natural hiding barrier. Defoliants pose a great threat to the environment. The hazards of this pesticide are twofold: firstly, it endangers the entire ecosystem of the region due to the destruction of large areas of vegetation; secondly, its teratogenic effects can seriously affect human health.
