However, after witnessing his colleague who was hiding in East Germany being shot by the East German border guards, Alek returned to the headquarters of the British Secret Intelligence Service to receive a confidential ultimate mission. In order to infiltrate East Germany, Alek deliberately exposed his weaknesses, even his corrupt side, in order to sow discord between the leader of the East German intelligence agency, Muent (played by Peter van Eyck), and his subordinate Fidler (played by Oskar Werner), and undermine their power. However, under the mysterious double agent mask, Alek gradually realized that he was just an insignificant chess piece, and the moral judgment in his heart and the increasingly blurred distinction between good and evil also tormented Alek. This film is adapted from the espionage novel of the same name published in 1963. This film has won 6 awards and been nominated 4 times. The male lead Richard Burton was also nominated for Best Actor at the 38th Academy Awards in 1966 for this film.

Technical Specifications

Director:

Martin Ritt

Cast:

Richard Burton, Claire Bloom, Oscar Weiner, Sam Wanamaker

Audio:

GermanDTS-HD5.1 / KoreanDTS-HD5.1

Subtitles:

Simplified Chinese / Traditional Chinese / Myanmar / Netherlands

https://www.bluray-dvd.com/products/1965-berlin-1080p-for-gift-1-disc-all-regionplay-seal-box-blu-ray
