Plot Summary

David (played by Ben Kingsley), who is over sixty years old, is a well-known cultural commentator in the local area. His lively and cheerful demeanor on television programs makes him endlessly charming. As a university professor, he never flirts with female students before grading classroom assignments to avoid being charged with sexual harassment. David is arrogant and unrestrained about his emotions, and his current close friend in life is a female student from 20 years ago. But things changed since he met 24-year-old Consuela (Pen é lope Cruz). He loves the meaning symbolized by her youth and body, just like the perfect body in a painting. But he couldn't believe he could have her forever, he thought there would always be younger and better men taking her away. So every time Consuela invited him to meet her relatives and friends, David always refused, refusing to enter her life. When Consuela expressed a strong desire for him to attend her graduation ceremony, David agreed, but the last-minute hesitation left Consuela heartbroken. She left for two years. Within two years, David faced the sadness of a close friend and the passing of an old friend. When Consuela reappeared in his life, it brought even more unexpected news.
