Description

Plot Summary

The film follows London journalist Robert Torres (played by Douglas Scott) as he travels to Spain to conduct research on a book about Josemar í a Escriv á. During the investigation, Robert repeatedly encountered obstacles, both in his career and personal life. He discovers the secret that his father Manolo Torres (played by Thieves Bentley) has been hiding for many years. Manolo was not only born in the same village as Josemar í a, as he claimed, but they were also childhood friends and studied at the same seminary. But in the end, Josemar í a chose to dedicate his life to his faith, while Manolo plunged into the Spanish Civil War, and the two parted ways. In the war, Manolo was furious because the beautiful Hungarian revolutionary Ildiko (played by the socialite Olga Korylenko) could not respond to his love. Robert continues to uncover Josemar í a's life secrets and his father Manolo's inexplicable rage. Their journeys overlap, with facts and past unfortunate choices forcing Manolo to face his secrets. This is his final opportunity to seek forgiveness. The behind the scenes production of "Saints' Secret Record" was funded by the United States, Spain, and Argentina, with a production cost of 35 million US dollars. It was directed by Roland Yoffi, a director who was nominated for two Oscars for "The Butcher of the City" and "The Floating Life". The story of the film focuses on Josemar í a Escriv á, the founder of the religious group Opus Dei - Opus Dei, an autonomous community under the Catholic Church. It is mentioned in "The Da Vinci Code", but the book has been criticized for its portrayal in a movie, with some accusing it of being full of "factual errors" and "anti Christian". Josemar í a Escriv á, on the other hand, has always been a controversial figure due to elitism, peculiar religious ritual practices, and political right-wing tendencies.
