Plot Summary

One day in the second half of the 1960s. A district in Paris. The banker's daughter Veronica held a meeting of the "Marxist Leninist Communist Party" branch in a borrowed residence from her girlfriend who had already gone on vacation with her parents. There is a large pile of small red books piled up in the room, and some handwritten quotes from Mao Zedong are prominently hung on the walls. In the sound of radio broadcasts coming from Beijing, Vilonica announced the official establishment of the branch and named it "Ardenne Alavia" in honor of the author of the novel of the same name, Paul Nizan, who was expelled from the French Communist Party. The branch members include young actor Girom, maid Ivona, painter Kirilov, and college student Henry. The task assigned by Veronica to the branch is to engage in a struggle on two fronts. At this moment, Henry, who was previously absent, walked in. He was covered in blood and was injured during a debate with French Communist Party members at the University of Paris about China's "Cultural Revolution". This gives Vilonica even more reason to declare the correctness of her 'line', which is not only not to ally with the French Communist Party, but also to regard it as her main enemy... Director Godard was obsessed with promoting Maoism, and his clever satire angered conventional critics. Godard's then wife Anne Wiazemsky played a philosophy student in the film, who sympathized with the four Maoist group members on campus. Their goals are always disrupted by external factors, such as posters, red books, dogmatic hymns, etc., and they seem unable to understand the true meaning of their political beliefs. They also cannot provide any ideological support for practical activities.
