Plot Summary

Mr. Alvin Strett (played by Richard Farnsworth) is over seventy years old, and not only is he introverted and eccentric, but his eyesight is also deteriorating. Mr. Slater and his daughter Ross (played by Sissy Spacek) rely on each other for survival. Although they live in poverty, they still have peace and joy.
