Plot Summary

At the end of the Sui Dynasty, Wang Renze (played by Yu Chenghui), the nephew of Sui general Wang Shichong, killed the God Leg Zhang who had rebelled against tyranny while supervising the construction of river defense works, but ordered his son Xiaohuzi to jump into the river and escape from Hukou. After being rescued by Shaolin monks and brought into the temple, Xiaohuzi resolutely shaved his head and became a monk to avenge his father, with the Buddhist name "Jueyuan (played by Jet Li)". Wang Renze's chief of guards met the shepherdess Bai Wuxia (played by Ding Lan) and coveted her beauty. He forcibly took her back to his mansion and attempted to commit violence after drinking, but was discovered by Jueyuan, who came alone to seek revenge. During the process of rescuing Bai Wuxia, Jueyuan was stabbed by Wang Renze due to his poor martial arts skills, which prompted him to practice even harder after returning to Shaolin Temple.
