Plot Summary

After the second shock of the great disaster that struck the world, the world was rebuilt on the ruins. 14-year-old boy Shinji Ikari was summoned by his father Gendu Ikari to the 3rd New Tokyo City. He thought he would see his father greet him, but he saw a huge creature named the "Apostle" engaged in combat with the army. In a critical situation, Ge Chengmei from the special agency NERV rescued Shinji and took him to NERV headquarters under the command of Ikari Motonari. But it was the father's cold command that welcomed Shinji: to drive a huge humanoid robot called "EVA" and fight against the apostles. Shinji, who had already expressed his refusal, decided to obey his father's orders after seeing the seriously injured substitute driver Ayanami. Thus, Shinji, who had never received combat training, prepared to pilot the EVA first aircraft to confront the Apostles.
