Plot Summary

In the corner of Tokyo, the tender and kind-hearted Minko Takano (played by Yoshio Kobayashi) manages the drugstore left by her dead husband alone. For the past 20 years, she has lived with her mother-in-law and daughter, Koharu (played by Yuki Aoi), and although it has been quite difficult, the days have been plain and happy. Now, as her daughter is about to marry into a human wife, Yinzi is not only delighted but also inevitably worried. It turns out that on her husband's 13th anniversary of death, her younger brother Tie Lang (played by Xiao Futing Hebing) was drunk and causing trouble for his family and friends. Yinzi and her brother Zhuangping (played by Kobayashi Toshimitsu) intentionally kept it a secret from their younger brother, but Tetsuro, who received the news, still came happily and, as usual, got drunk and caused trouble. Tie Lang's actions not only brought shame to his family, but also affected Xiao Chun's marriage. In the days that followed, this younger brother, who was over fifty years old but never grew up, became a bond that his sister couldn't let go of for a long time... This film is a tribute to Kuni Ichikawa by Japanese national treasure level director Yoji Yamada, and was invited to participate in the 60th Berlin Film Festival and won a special award at the festival.
