Description

Plot Summary

In the 1960s, in Mississippi, black maid Abbirien (played by Viola Davis) diligently took care of the daughter of her mistress, who, due to postpartum depression, only cared about having sex with her best friend. Mississippi University graduate Skeeter (played by Emma Stone) works as a housewife mailbox in a newspaper, and thus begins the survival of a black maid. Among them, Healy (played by Bryce Dallas Howard) is undoubtedly a negative example, with an arrogant attitude and prejudice against the black maid Minnie (played by Octavia Spencer), and advocating that the black maid should not share the bathroom with her owner. In the end, unable to bear the humiliation, Minnie angrily left and retaliated, using the excuse of apology to bring shame to her. Skeeter began interviewing Abbirien and Minnie, hoping to understand the survival status of the black maid and accumulate materials for his new book. At the same time, the equal rights movement led by Martin Luther King Jr. was in full swing, and Mississippi, where Skeeter was located, was at the forefront of the struggle. Due to the bloodshed of black people being shot, racial segregation began, and a skin color war was inevitable
