Plot Summary

On November 4, 1979, the Iranian revolutionary army attacked the US embassy in Tehran, Iran, taking the embassy staff hostage. More than 50 people were detained, but 6 escaped and hid at the home of Canadian Ambassador to Iran Ken Taylor (played by Victor Garber). CIA executive Jack O'Donnell (played by Bryan Cranston) approached expert Tony Mendez (played by Ben Affleck) to assist in bringing the six individuals back to the United States. After discussion, the CIA decided to adopt Tony's approach and, under the guise of filming a movie, Tony went to Iran to bring back those six people. Tony contacted his friend in Hollywood, makeup artist John Chambers (played by John Goodman), and contacted film producer Lester (played by Alan Arkin). Tony chose 'ARGO' among many scripts, a movie that is very similar to 'Star Wars'. So he went to Iran as a producer with a script and various props, found those six people, and began the arduous journey of escaping Tehran This film is adapted from a true story and won three awards at the 85th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Editing, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
