Plot Summary

Pat (played by Bradley Cooper), a high school teacher who is naturally cheerful and optimistic, was sent to the hospital for mental treatment by his parents after experiencing psychological trauma after discovering his wife's infidelity at home. After being discharged from the hospital, Pat returned to his parents' house to live with them, feeling suppressed under the excessive care of his father (Robert De Niro) and mother (Jacki Weaver). At a party, Pat met a young woman named Tiffany (played by Jennifer Lawrence) who had just lost her husband and job. Tiffany, covered in thorns, and Pat were constantly at odds, causing Pat to initially avoid them. But as the two of them got to know each other better, Pat gradually discovered Tiffany's charm, and Tiffany also discovered Pat's indelible optimism. Tiffany asked Pat to practice dancing with her and participate in the competition, and their relationship began to improve in a positive direction. At the dance competition arena, Pat finally found the love of his life, and his life with Tiffany also cleared the dark clouds and saw the sunshine again. This film is adapted from Matthew Quick's novel of the same name. Since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012, it has received various positive reviews and has since been nominated for multiple film festivals and awards, including four Golden Globe Awards, three BAFTA Awards, five Independent Spirit Awards, and eight Oscars. Jennifer Lawrence won the Best Actress award at the 70th Golden Globe Awards and the 85th Academy Awards.
