Plot Summary

The film is adapted from the bestselling book of the same name by British historian Damian Lewis during World War II, 'The Non Gentleman War Department: How Churchill's Secret Warriors Ignited Europe and gave birth to Modern Black Ops'. The film tells the true and bizarre story of Churchill's secret combat team. This small team used non-traditional and completely 'non gentlemanly' combat techniques to fight against the Nazis, thus changing the course of the war. The story takes place during World War II in 1940, when Germany continued to bomb Britain and used U-boats to destroy its supply lines. Some British government officials advocated surrender, but Churchill was determined not to admit defeat and instead changed the rules of war to launch a strong counterattack. According to intelligence, the maintenance, repair, and armament work of the German Atlantic U-boat fleet is carried out in a small port in Nigeria. Churchill saw an opportunity to destroy Germany's war assets and regain its advantage. However, he realized that directly attacking this Spanish colony could lead to an alliance between Spain and Germany, so he formed a secret combat team led by Captain Gus March Phillips (played by Henry Cavill) to launch a secret operation to destroy the fleet. When the initial plan to destroy the fleet could not be carried out due to the sturdy ships and shallow waters in the port, the small team quickly formulated a plan to steal the ships. Their bold actions were successful, destroying an important component of Hitler's war machine, reopening supply lines to Britain, and accelerating Germany's defeat.
