Description
Plot Summary
The Tears of Butterflies, adapted from a true story, tells the life of Dominican lawyer and activist Minova Mirabo and her activist sisters Pattia and Maria Teresa, who were murdered on November 25, 1960 by the order of dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. The story reproduces the details before and after this tragic day, prompting the United Nations to designate November 25th as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, as this murder case once again painfully reminds people that gender based violence is widespread around the world.
