Plot Summary

A beautiful family fairy tale. Father Edward (played by Albert Finney) loved to tell his young son about his legendary experiences when he was young. He claimed to have experienced many bizarre, magical, and absurd things while traveling as a salesman in Alabama. Will (played by Billy Crudup) does not believe it and feels that his father is being vain and exaggerated, causing the father son relationship to gradually become estranged. Until his father was diagnosed with cancer and soon passed away, the son decided to go back and see his father for the last time. When the son faced his father on the sickbed, the father began to recount his early experiences: he once went to the big city to leave the small village, met witches and giants on the way, and went to Ghost Village together. Later, he met a magical circus performer, an Asian artist, a big fish that he could never catch, and how he fell in love with his mother at first sight and made a lifelong commitment... From the weak breath of his father, Will seemed to understand feelings he had never experienced before. Perhaps his father's narration had embellishments, but in his heart, those experiences until the last moment of life were still full of passion and imagination, and his father finally closed his eyes under his son's understanding and deep love.
