Plot Summary

On the night of July 27, 1976, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck the Tangshan area, causing houses to collapse and countless victims to be affected. Faced with the imminent collapse of the dangerous building, husband Fang Daqiang (played by Zhang Guoqiang) and wife Li Yuanni (played by Xu Fan) both have to go to rescue the trapped dragon and phoenix fetuses, female Deng (played by Zhang Zifeng) and Fang Da (played by Zhang Jiajun). In a critical moment, Fang Daqiang stopped his wife and unfortunately died while rushing in to rescue her. Li Yuanni discovered after the earthquake that a pair of children were trapped at both ends of a cement board. If they were to be rescued, one would have to sacrifice their life. In a moment of desperation, she made a difficult choice - to save her younger brother. This became an indelible pain in Fang Deng's heart. Later, she was adopted by the military couple Wang Deqing (played by Chen Daoming). After the college entrance examination, Fang Deng (played by Zhang Jingchu) entered Hangzhou Medical College to study and developed feelings for his graduate senior brother Yang Zhi (played by Lu Yi)...
