Description
Plot Summary
During the Japanese colonial period in Korea, the grandson of a Japanese general, Tatsuo Hasegawa (played by J Odagiri), competed in long-distance running with his poor son, Kim Jun sik (played by Dong gun Jang), until they were selected for the Olympics. Although Junzhi risked his life to win the championship, he was falsely accused of violating regulations. Angry civilians clashed with the military, and ultimately Junzhi was conscripted. He and his brothers were repeatedly humiliated by the Japanese army. During a field battle, Junzhi accidentally captured sniper Sly (played by Fan Bingbing) who specialized in shooting Japanese soldiers. General Chenxiong came to the front line to supervise the battle, which humiliated Junzhi. He insists on long-distance running every night, but his running shoes are burned. He refused to join the suicide squad and decided to flee collectively. Junzhi saw the Soviet army pressing down and decided to run back to deliver the message. As a result, the Japanese army suffered a disastrous defeat and Chen Xiong and Jun Zhi were captured. In the icy and snowy weather, Junzhi met his brother Zotye who had fled before, but the latter had become cold-blooded. After a riot, Junzhi and Chenxiong engaged in a corner fight, but Junzhi showed leniency towards his opponent. Afterwards, the German army launched a crazy counterattack, and Junzhi and Chenxiong experienced life and death together in the suicide squad. They crossed mountains and valleys to escape, sharing joys and sorrows, and arrived in the German occupied territory. The two were separated, and goodbye turned out to be the German camp in Normandy. Chen Xiong once again saw the running figure
