Plot Summary

This film is based on a real event that occurred during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Maria (played by Naomi Watts) and Henry (played by Ewan McGregor), along with their three sons, travel to Thailand to celebrate Christmas together. However, on the day after Christmas, while the happy family is enjoying their leisure time by the pool, a fierce, ten thousand foot wave suddenly hits them head-on. Maria, who was stunned by the scene before her, couldn't react immediately and unfortunately was swept away by a huge wave; Although Henry caught his two sons in time to prepare for escape, it was still too late, and the fierce flood finally dispersed them. Maria, who was once knocked unconscious by the huge waves, woke up to find herself floating on the surface of the sea. All the surrounding scenery had been submerged underwater. While she firmly believed that her family had all perished, she discovered that her eldest son Lucas was floating on the sea just a few meters away from her.
