Plot Summary
Not long after celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with their husband (played by Anthony Rapaglia), Darcy (played by Joan Allen) is out on a business trip. While searching for batteries in the garage, he accidentally discovers that his husband is none other than the infamous serial killer Beatty, as reported in the news. The novel blueprint for the film is one of the short story collections "Full Dark, No Stars" published by Jin in 2010. Jin said in an interview that the inspiration for the novel came from Dennis Rader, an American "BTK serial killer" who was arrested in 2005. He had a wife of 34 years, Paula, who had no knowledge of his murder. Jin said that the novel explores the idea that people can never fully understand each other, even the ones they love the most.
