Description

Plot Summary

This film is a musical and dance film that showcases the pinnacle of jazz music from the 1970s. Won the Palme d'Or at the 33rd Cannes International Film Festival in 1980, and won three Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, Best Editing, and Best Music at the 52nd Academy Awards (1979). As a musical enthusiast, even if you are not familiar with the name Bob Fosse, the director of the Academy Awards, I bet you have heard of the Tony Award and Oscar winners "Chicago" and "Caballera". Fosse is the screenwriter and director of the movie versions of these two musicals, and his other famous work is "Jazz Age". In fact, with a little attention, one can discover many traces of Jazz Spring and Autumn from the choreography of "Chicago", and the first song to get straight to the point in "Chicago" is "All That Jazz". )Jazz Age "can be regarded as Bob Fosse's semi autobiographical film. The protagonist of the film is a veteran Broadway director named Joe Gideon, who is imaginative, independent, and talented. However, due to the lack of lofty ideals and a correct outlook on life and the world, the pressure of work and emotional indulgence have made him discouraged and disillusioned with the world, and his health has deteriorated. Finally, in the singing and dancing scenes of his work, Gideon hummed" Goodbye My Love "and embarked on a journey of no return on the operating table. Life is so unpredictable. Mr. Gideon can create box office miracles and attract all kinds of women to embrace him, but like us, he often has no way to deal with the emptiness of his soul and the weakness of his body. Chatting with like-minded friends, having favorite articles to read and write, having enjoyable musicals to enjoy, having a humorous mood to smile often, having air free of SARS virus to breathe - I wonder how long God can give us such simple happiness? Golden Melody Tips: "On Broadway", "After You've Gone", "Everything Old Is New Again", "Goodbye Love".
