Description

Plot Summary

Erwin Rommel was the most renowned German general during World War II and also Hitler's favorite general. Anyone with a basic understanding of world military history will know his famous nickname - 'Desert Fox'. Due to his astonishing achievements in the North African desert battlefield (Rommel led two divisions in just two weeks, causing the British army to lose all their previous two months' gains) and the crazy propaganda of German and Allied media, he had already become a legendary soldier and idol admired by Germans during his lifetime. After the outbreak of World War II, Rommel, as one of the commanders of the German High Command, was highly regarded by Hitler. In February 1940, Hitler appointed him as the commander of the 7th Armored Division and presented him with the book 'Mein Kampf'. In May and June, during the German invasion of Western Europe, Rommel commanded the Armored 7th Division to charge forward, first defeating Belgium, then Arras and Somme, and finally charging straight to the west coast of France, known as the "Devil's Army" by the French. In February 1941, Hitler appointed Rommel as the commander of the "German African Army" and went to North Africa to rescue the Italian army that had suffered a devastating defeat. After arriving at the front line in Tripoli, North Africa, he immediately conducted a reconnaissance flight and concluded that 'attack is the best defense'. So he changed the order to "defend the defense line" and commanded his armored troops to brave the desert storm and advance at full speed. The British army was caught off guard and retreated one after another. The German army is approaching Alexandria and Suez. Rommel gained great fame as a result, earning the nickname "Desert Fox" and being promoted to Marshal. Later, the main force of the German army was restrained on the Soviet German battlefield, and Hitler refused to withdraw troops to assist the North African front, forcing Rommel to stop attacking and defend at Alem á n. In November 1942, Rommel, with only 50000 troops and 550 tanks, fought against Montgomery's 195000 troops and 1029 tanks in the Aleman region, but ultimately suffered a devastating defeat due to being outnumbered. In March 1943, Rommel was recalled to the German headquarters. In July of the same year, he was appointed as the commander of the Army Group "B" stationed in northern Italy. From December 1943 to July 1944, he led the Army Group "B" to organize defense in France and commanded the resistance against the Normandy landings. Subsequently, an attempted assassination attempt on Hitler occurred in Germany, in which Rommel was implicated. On October 14, 1944, due to Hitler's coercion, he committed suicide by taking poison in a small car, and the announced news was that "Field Marshal Rommel died of a stroke on the way.
