Plot Summary
Oliver Stone is currently searching for actors for his next film, and this time he has set his sights on Edward Snowden, who gained fame for exposing the scandal of US surveillance in the world. It is reported that Joseph Gordon Levitt is currently the most favored candidate for the role of "Snowden" by this great director, but this matter is not yet confirmed. This Snowden themed film is mainly based on two books. One is "The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man," which was just published earlier this year by Guardian journalist Luke Harding. The book comprehensively records how Edward Snowden went from being a loyal Republican to becoming a "traitor" in the eyes of the US government due to his liberal values conflicting with the government's surveillance program. The second book is "Time of the Octopus" written by Anatoly Kucherena, Snowden's lawyer in Russia. This book provides a detailed account of how Snowden went into hiding in Russia and the process of applying for political asylum.
