Plot Summary

This film is adapted from James Elloy's novel and depicts the corrupt and crime ridden Los Angeles of the 1950s. Jack Vincent (played by Kevin Spacey) is a police celebrity who often appears in television media, colluding with gossip reporters from the "Sh Sh Sh Sh" newspaper, and earning extra income by creating and exposing scandalous news about celebrities. Ed Astley (played by Guy Pierce) inherited his father's business and entered the police station. He was ambitious and rigorous in his work, but was promoted due to betraying his colleagues and was ostracized by everyone; Bard White (played by Russell Crowe) is impartial, but impulsive and easily exploited. A suspected robbery in a restaurant connected these three people. Ed Astley found three black suspects and was sentenced to death. He received commendations from his superiors for this, but upon further investigation, he discovered that the case was not that simple. He convinced Jack Vinson to continue the investigation with him; Bade White has always had doubts about the restaurant murder case, and the clues he found also show that the case is not as simple as imagined. Three people are quickly caught up in a web of pornography, drugs, murder, betrayal, corruption, and conspiracy, revealing shocking insider information .....
