Plot Summary

This movie depicts one of the most brutal wars in human history: the Battle of Thermopylae. In 480 BC, Persian King Xerxes I (played by Rodrigo Santoro) personally led a 300000 strong army to conquer Greece. The various Greek city states quickly dispatched armies to form a coalition, preparing to resist the invasion of the Persian army. The front line of the defense line is located at Thermopylae in Greece, where King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) of Sparta leads 300 elite soldiers and over 4000 allied troops to guard the city. Due to the betrayal of the traitor, the Greek army was captured by the Persian army and formed a encirclement. In order to preserve the strength of the coalition forces, Leonidas led 300 elite soldiers to defend the Thermopylae Pass to the death. Hundreds of thousands of Persian armies and merchants flocked to the battlefield, but the Spartan soldiers, who knew they would die, had high morale and unleashed astonishing fighting power in the battle.
