Description
Plot Summary
The female assistant researcher of young Washington congressman Steven Collins (played by Ben Affleck), who was at the peak of his career, was suddenly killed. Collins lost his composure during a congressional hearing against arms dealer Peak, exposing his extramarital affair and becoming a target of public criticism. He had to flee to the home of his college friend and former campaign advisor, Carl McCaffrey (played by Russell Crowe), a senior journalist for The Washington Globe. During the investigation of a murder case, McCaffrey accidentally discovered that the deceased was actually related to Collins' late female assistant researcher. With the help of colleague Della (played by Rachel McAdams), as McCaffrey's investigation deepens, insider information about Peak Point and scandals involving congressmen are exposed one after another. Where does McCaffrey ultimately report on the multiple forces of news competition, truth about events, past friendships, and social justice?
