Description
Plot Summary
The news of her brother Kenny (played by Sam Rockwell) being charged with murder and imprisoned has left Betty (played by Hillary Swank) unable to calm down for a long time. She refuses to believe that the kind Kenny would commit such a cruel crime. Therefore, the stubborn Betty decides to embark on the path of seeking the truth and reclaiming Kenny's innocence. But things are not something you can do just by thinking. Betty has not completed high school and currently does not have a fixed job or salary. To make matters worse, she is not independent, but a single mother with two children. Under the dual pressures of life and society, Betty began to self-study law. Over the next 12 years, she never gave up and eventually obtained a law degree. At the same time, the investigation into the Kenny case is also underway, but the pessimistic evidence and testimony repeatedly undermine Betty's confidence. Is Kenny really innocent? What is the truth of the matter?
