Plot Summary

In the 1990s, in a North African village, eight French Cistercian monks strictly adhered to the tenets of Christianity, sang poetry, worshipped, saved lives and helped the wounded in the monastery, and lived in harmony with local Muslim villagers. However, a terrorist attack shattered this tranquility. On the construction site, foreign workers were brutally slaughtered, and Xiduohui began to face suspicion and resentment from the villagers. At this point, the government army decided to strengthen the protection of the monastery, but the monks led by Kristin (Lambert Wilson) ultimately refused the army's request. On Christmas Eve, a group of fundamentalists visited late at night, claiming responsibility for the massacre. At the entrance of the church, Christian monks engaged in a close combat with Islamic disciples in terms of doctrine.
