Plot Summary

In the 13th century, priests had already begun using the Book of Solomon to combat witches and demons. One hundred years later, the knight Beman (Nicolas Cage) and his old partner Philson (Ron Perlman), who rose to fame for their outstanding military achievements in the Crusades, grew tired of the cruelty of war. They disarmed and returned home, but what they saw in the small town was a scene of rampant plague. Beman and Philson were taken into custody as deserters. The local lord learned about their merits and immediately entrusted them with the task of escorting a witch to the monastery for trial on behalf of the church. Beman, Field, a local pastor, a knight, and a thief serving as a guide formed a convoy.
