Plot Summary

The film tells the story of the global financial crisis that erupted in 2008, with US Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson (played by William Hurt) as the main thread, documenting the decisions and actions of the powerful figures who determine the fate of the world's largest economy within a few weeks. In order to save the global economy and overcome financial difficulties, not only did Paulson exert all his efforts, but Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke (played by Paul Giamatti), New York Federal Reserve Bank President Tim Geither, and others also utilized their personal relationships and channels. In addition, Warren Buffett (played by Edward Asner), investment bankers, UK regulators, and almost all members of parliament participated in this smokeless financial war. This film is adapted from the bestselling book "Too Big to Fall" by Andrew Ross Sorkin, the chief correspondent and columnist of The New York Times. The film was nominated for Best Miniseries, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor of the 69th Golden Globe Awards in 2012.
