Plot Summary

The story is based on the life story of Mrs. Simpson Wallis, and it is Madonna's second film directed after "Lust and Wisdom" in 2008. The production cost was almost entirely borne by her, and the total investment in the film reached 36 million US dollars. The film adopts a dual track structure, telling the legendary romance between King Edward VIII of England (James D'Arcy) and American woman Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough). Edward, under the guise of love, made Wallis bear all the blame for not loving the country and loving the beauty. Another thread is in 1998, when a New York woman named Wally Vittrup (played by Abbie Cornish) becomes obsessed with the love story between Wallis and Edward while facing her husband's cold violence. She collected all the information about Wallis and visited the exhibition of Wallis relics auction over and over again. After visiting the exhibition hall multiple times, she met the security guard there (played by Oscar Isaac), which gave her a long lost passion.
