Description
Plot Summary
The story of Parker's new work, inspired by real events and set in the summer of 2014, is by William "Billy" Ivory. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings in France, Bernard Jordan (played by Michael Caine), in his eighties, made global headlines. He staged a 'great escape', escaping from his nursing home to the beaches of Normandy to commemorate his fallen comrades with his fellow war veterans. The bittersweet script is said to explore 'reality with wisdom and a very broad heart'. Bernie's adventure, which lasted only 48 hours, also marked the climax of his 60 year marriage to Eileen (Glenda Jackson). This movie will also celebrate their love without any sentimentality and focus on the lessons we can all learn from the greatest generation.
