Plot Summary

In 1981, AIDS emerged in New York as an unprecedented immune system deficiency disease. Due to its concentration among male homosexuals, it was also known as' gay disease 'at the time. Ned (played by Mark Ruffalo) is a radical gay writer who, when he watches his friends die one after another and the government's inaction, becomes outraged and launches a gay health crisis organization, calling on the government and the public to pay attention to this impending pandemic. Emma (played by Julia Roberts), a paralyzed female doctor, is one of the few healthcare workers who have been highly vigilant about the HIV epidemic from the beginning, and is also an important heterosexual ally of Ned. During the exercise, Ned met New York Times reporter Phoenix (played by Matt Bomer), and the two fell deeply in love. However, Phoenix was eventually diagnosed with infection, and the grieving Ned had to fight on both his love life and career.
