Plot Summary

In the 1950s in northern China, during his childhood, Qiu Yun (played by Wang Feifei), his parents were both actors in a wandering theater troupe, singing the traditional play "Zhong Kui Marries His Sister" together. The mother (played by Wang Changjun) of the singing actress eloped with a man, which left an indelible shadow on her father (played by Li Baotian). From then on, he believed that singing the actress was a symbol of women's impropriety. It's just that Xiaoqiu Yun is smart and clever, secretly learning drama. Qiuyun (played by Gong Lin), who grew up as a young girl, was discovered by everyone during a rescue performance to be a "natural talent for singing opera". However, Father Lao Qiu was worried that his daughter would follow in her mother's footsteps and insisted that her daughter leave the theater troupe. But Qiu Yun bluntly stated that he would rather sing male roles from now on than continue singing. Helpless, Lao Qiu had no choice but to teach her how to sing as a novice, and she quickly became a pillar of the theater troupe. Qiuyun (played by Xu Shouli), who grew up to be a young girl and joined the provincial theater troupe, secretly admires her mentor Zhang (played by Ji Qilin), but Zhang has a wife and children in the countryside. Words can be intimidating. Teacher Zhang was forced to leave the theater troupe for the future of Qiuyun. After the end of the Cultural Revolution, Qiuyun, who was already a mother of two children, was determined to return to the stage and sing the duet "Zhong Kui Marries His Sister", finally becoming famous both domestically and internationally for her exquisite skills. But artistic success cannot conceal autumn
