Description
Plot Summary
After her mother's death, Kate (played by Helena Bonham Carter) was taken in by her aunt Madeline (played by Charlotte Rampling). Mader hopes Kate can marry a wealthy man and live a worry free life, but the rebellious Kate falls in love with the unknown journalist Morton (played by Linus Roache). A wealthy woman named Millie (played by Alison Elliott) appeared by Kate's side, who was seriously ill and had a short life. Simple Millie fell in love with Morton, and Kate saw it all in her eyes. A clever plan emerged that could both obtain Millie's property and Morton's love. She quickly became friends with Millie and talked about everything. However, human emotions are not as easily manipulated as Kate imagined. As the relationship between Morton and Millie deepens and is about to lose control, Kate falls into a deep state of unease.
