Plot Summary
All gangster stories seem to be unable to escape the routine of killing and revenge, but this movie elevates the gang's revenge into a collective resistance seeking equality and freedom. The gangs in New York are mainly composed of the Italian faction led by Italian Walloon and the Irish faction led by Daniel Day Lewis. After being assassinated by Bill, Walloon's son Armstrong (Leonardo DiCaprio) was sent to prison. With a strong desire for revenge, Armstrong endured 10 years of imprisonment. In order to seek revenge, Armstrong secretly joined the Irish faction gang led by Bill. However, as he got closer to Bill, he realized that killing him would not ultimately free all the persecutors, as there were powerful political forces behind the gang
