Plot Summary

Los Angeles police officer Klein (played by Josh Hartnett) is brutally humiliated during the investigation, and the criminal is bloodthirsty and likes to dismember living people. Klein was seriously injured and managed to survive, but left a shadow in his heart and was forced to resign. Three years later, a wealthy Chinese businessman entrusted Klein to help search for his missing son Shi Tao (played by Takuya Kimura). He arrived in Hong Kong and was received by his friend Mencius (played by Shawn Yue), who was also a police officer. At the police station, Klein brushed past Shi Tao. Subsequently, a murder case occurred in the wilderness, and Mencius suspected that it was the work of a homeless man (played by Li Cansen). The two hurried to the scene. At the same time, Lily (played by Tran Nu Y ê n-Kh ê), the lover of gang leader Su Dongpo (played by Byung hun Lee), was kidnapped by thugs. The latter fled by car and arrived in the wilderness, but was killed. During the investigation, Klein gradually discovered the subtle relationship between Lily, Lee Byung hun, and Shi Tao... This film is the return of Vietnamese director Chen Yingxiong after a 7-year hiatus and was selected for the competition section of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.
