Plot Summary
The Pillars of the Earth, an eight episode epic mini series by StarZ, is based on the novel of the same name published by British author Ken Follett in 1989. It tells the story of a political upheaval in 1120, when the Crown Prince William Adelin sank on a ship in the English Channel of the English Channel, leading to the extinction of the British monarch. The events of a stonemason family and their loved ones take place at a monastery in Kingsbridge, a town in southern England. The abbot, Phillip, is determined to build a cathedral. For this lofty ideal, Phillip gathered craftsmen from all over the country to work tirelessly for the construction of the cathedral. During this period, there were many setbacks in the construction of the cathedral. The protagonist Jack Jackson eventually inherited his father's aspirations and took on the construction of the cathedral, building the most magnificent cathedral in England at that time
