Description

Plot Summary

In 1215 AD, British barons rebelled and King John was forced to sign the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta suppressed royal power, ensured people's right to freedom, and laid the foundation for the future common law system in England. However, the king, who was unwilling to be restricted, went back on his word and gathered a mercenary army on the southern coast of England to capture the barons, attempting to bring the country back under his dictatorship. Just as the king's army approached London step by step and the monarchy was about to be regained, Baron Albany led a group of seven people to resist fiercely at Rochester Castle, waiting for French rescue. Rochester Castle has also become an important symbol of fairness, justice, and freedom rising up in rebellion. The naked violence and ruthless realism in a one sentence comment have added a lot of points to this film. ——TotalFilm is barbaric, patriotic, and extremely masculine. ——The history of the signing of the Magna Carta behind the scenes production by Hollywood News is well-known in the UK, but the story after the signing of the charter is little known, even the lead actor James Bower said he did not know about this period of history. The story of this film is adapted from the great Battle of Rochester Castle in British history. Through a combination of reality and fiction, director Jonathan Inglesey tirelessly portrays the brutality of medieval warfare and the difficult survival of people during times of war. As early as the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, the production company Mythic, while seeking investors, also extended an olive branch to actress Megan Fox. After Fox resigned, her role was replaced by Kate Mara. In 2009, due to the decrease in the amount of letters of credit and financing, the budget of the film fell sharply. supporting role, except for James Bauer and Paul Giamarty, had a collective change of blood. When interviewed by Variety magazine, the producer Andrew Curtis said laughingly, "The financing of the film is simply more complicated than the subway map of London." Until the completion of the film shooting, there were 18 film supervisors in total. Filming began on October 9, 2009, and the film was completed by Dragon International Film Studio in a village near Llanharan in Wales. A replica of Rochester Castle was built indoors. The fighting scenes should be as thrilling as' Saving Private Ryan ', "said director Jonathan Inglish, admitting that he is both a history enthusiast and a castle enthusiast. Although he lives near Surrey, he has never been to Rochester Castle. Four years ago, by chance, he came to Rochester Castle and was deeply shocked by the buildings and ruins there. "It's not like a castle, but more like a battlefield, so I started to specialize in studying this battle, studying how the warriors survived on horse meat and water. I think this story would make a very exciting movie." Jonathan Inglish attached great importance to the fighting scenes in the film, and he admitted that he didn't want to avoid them like most British independent films. There were very few fighting scenes in these movies, and the movies eventually turned into dramas. He hoped that the fighting scene would be as thrilling as' Saving Private Ryan 'from the beginning. In addition, he believes that actors themselves also enjoy sword fighting. He said, "Actors love sword fighting, and if we have to say what they prefer, it's sword fighting training." This film brings together three generations of actors, old, middle-aged, and young. The most admired by director Jonathan English are veteran actors such as Brian Cox, who he believes established the serious and solemn tone of the film with their performances. Old actors such as Charles Dance and Derek Jacobi play real historical figures in the drama, while younger actors such as James Bower play fictional characters because the rebels are ordinary civilians, many of whom are unknown. Director Jonathan English revealed the true purpose of this move, which is to use real historical figures to attract the interest of veteran actors. "If you tell Charles Dance that you want him to play the Archbishop of Canterbury who helped King John sign the Magna Carta, he will naturally be very interested. They all like this kind of story, and there are many who like violence. ”Actor James Bower plays a fictional character, Templar Thomas Marshall, in the film. Towards the end of filming for 'Solomon Kane', director Mike Bassett received an email from director Jonathan Inglish inviting James to star in 'Iron Man'. After meeting with the director and reading the script, James found it very interesting and was attracted by the plot, so he gladly agreed. Last year, he starred in the medieval action film "Solomon Kane", which led everyone to believe that he was at the forefront of the revival of British action films characterized by boldness. James stated that he did not intentionally create such an image. "I think it may be because I have previously filmed similar roles, and the producers recognized my knife and gun skills, so they thought inviting me to participate would be very secure." Behind the scenes: Megan Fox was originally scheduled to play Lady Isabel, but was later replaced by Kate Mara. ·Richard Attenborough was forced to withdraw from film production due to poor health. ·This film is the largest independent film shot in Wales as a filming location. ·The production team spent 14 weeks building the Rochester Castle in its original size using wood, steel bars, and plastic. Although it cannot restore the castle's original height, the effect is still quite realistic. ·The movie uses a combination of realistic effects and CGI technology, and the collapsed castle is an 18 foot tall miniature. The catapult in the movie is also real and can be considered the largest catapult in the UK, capable of throwing huge objects across rivers. ·Handheld camera shooting also played a significant role in the film. ·The funding sources for movies are diverse, and every investor wants to leave a historic mark in the producer column, resulting in an astonishing phenomenon of up to 18 film producers. Albany: We claim this castle in the name of the rebellion! Albany: We occupy this castle in the name of rebellion! Albany: [Calls down to King John] You are no more a king than the boil on my arse! Albany: (To King John) You're not even as good as the sores on my butt. What a boring little dwarf (to his friends). Marshall: Have you ever killed a man, squire It is not a noble thing. Not even when it is for God! Marshall: Have you ever killed anyone? This is not a noble thing, even in the name of God.
