Description

Plot Summary

Mike (played by Paul Giamatti) is a small town lawyer who accidentally becomes Leo's guardian while helping an elderly man with dementia (played by Burt Young) fight a custody lawsuit. Just taking care of the old man is not enough. Leo's grandson Kyle (played by Alex Shaffer) unexpectedly arrives again. He comes to seek refuge with his grandfather because of a conflict with his drug addicted mother. Mike's family has to take him in and arrange for him to attend a nearby high school. Mike also serves as the coach of the high school wrestling team and soon discovers that Kyle is a very talented wrestler. The situation seems to be a "win-win" situation, with Leo and Kyle receiving daily care, Mike's team having an additional main force, and a monthly guardianship income subsidy of 1500 yuan for household expenses. But the balance is broken when Kyle's mother Cindy (played by Melanie Lynskey) arrives, wanting to regain custody of Leo. When her mother arrives, Kyle has no reason to live with Mike's family anymore, but only Kyle understands that his mother has no love for him and his grandfather, and all the purpose is for his grandfather's money
