Description

Plot Summary

This is the most expensive film in Türkiye's history, with a production cost of 17 million US dollars. The film is adapted from the battle in which Mohammed II captured the Byzantine capital Constantinople in 1453. Production began in 2009 and lasted for three years. In 1453, the Byzantine capital Constantinople was surrounded by Türkiye invaders. As the national treasury of the empire gradually became empty, Constantinople was just a shadow of the glory of the past, while the Türkiye empire gradually became stronger. After enduring the Byzantine Empire for so many years, the ambitious Sultan Mehmed II (played by Devrim Evin) launched a campaign to end the Byzantine Empire. He led cavalry and warships to capture the Byzantine capital Constantinople, thus ending the rule of the Eastern Roman Empire for more than a thousand years. He conquered Constantinople in the name of the Turks, and established the Ottoman Empire as a trans Eurasian country, where eastern and western civilizations met.
