Description
Plot Summary
Jasmine's (Cate Blanchett) husband Hal was arrested and imprisoned on charges of commercial fraud, and ended his life in prison. She was left penniless and had to leave New York to seek refuge with her sister Ginger (Sally Hawkins) in San Francisco. Returning to the world of ordinary people in an instant from a life of extravagant spending, Jasmine suffered a mental breakdown. She often talked to herself and immersed herself in memories of the past, feeling out of place with those around her. She doesn't like Ginger's ex husband Aguie, let alone Ginger's current boyfriend Chill. Jasmine found a job at a dental clinic and returned to school to attend classes, but her life is still a mess. Until at a party, she met a civil servant who was witty, handsome, and wealthy, and quickly won Jasmine's heart. Jasmine's life seems to have returned to normal, just as they were preparing to buy a wedding ring, Ginger's ex husband Augie's appearance once again darkened her world .....
