Plot Summary

In Nagasaki, Japan, Okano Yuichi (played by Iwamatsu), who is already over fifty years old, is like a child who never grows up. He lives a mediocre life as a thug in his workplace, and instead enjoys singing and creating comics in bars. In daily life, Xiong Yi lives with his elderly mother Sanji (played by Haruka Akagi) and son Masazaki (played by Kensuke Oheda). The two of them go out to earn money and often leave the old lady alone at home. Many years ago, Grandma Sanji was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Her daily routine was full of twists and turns, and her condition was constant, leaving Xiong and his son exhausted. As the old lady's condition worsened day by day, Xiong Yi had to make a painful decision to send his mother to a specialized nursing institution. Sanji Granny's current memories are declining day by day, while her memories of her childhood playmate and late husband (played by Ryo Kase) are becoming clearer. The elderly can no longer distinguish the boundaries between the past and present, life and death. The most important people in her life came to her side one by one... This film is adapted from the four panel manga created by Yuichi Okano based on his family story, and won the first place in the 2013 Film Weekly Top Ten Films.
