Description
Plot Summary
Based on the bestselling book of the same name by Miriam Toews, it tells the story of hundreds of women who have been sexually assaulted for years in a remote religious colony. Some women learn that they were drugged and attacked by a group of men from their own community, and in order to protect themselves and their daughters from further harm, they decide to take measures. These women try to raise enough funds, but they are illiterate, ignorant of the world outside their community, and even do not speak the language of their country. They have almost no time to make a choice: whether to stay in the only familiar world or dare to escape.
