Description
Plot Summary
Matt (played by Spencer Tracy) is the editor in chief of a newspaper. With advanced thinking, he opposes racial discrimination and advocates for freedom and equality. This is the kind of man who, when his beloved daughter Joey (played by Sidney Poitier) comes to him with her boyfriend John (played by Sidney Poitier), Matt is completely stunned. Originally, John was a black boy, and Matt never dreamed that the plot he usually saw in novels and TV would happen to him. On one hand, there is a belief in liberalism, and on the other hand, there is an inherent prejudice against black people that cannot be eliminated. Matt is caught in a dilemma, and at the same time, John's father strongly opposes this marriage. Faced with immense pressure, Joey and John did not give up. Seeing their daughter's strength, Matt pondered deeply.
