Description
Plot Summary
This is the story of a couple who happened in Milan. Giovanni Pontano (Marcello Mastroianni) is a famous writer who has a beautiful wife, Lidia (Jeanne Moreau). They came to the hospital to visit Giovanni's friend Tommaso, who was seriously ill. Tommmso kept talking about Giovanni's new book, but the pain caused by the illness left him in great pain. Lidia couldn't bear to see such a patient and left first, while Giovanni was seduced by a female patient. When Giovanni saw Lidia again, the atmosphere between the two seemed very strange. The two first attended Giovanni's new book launch event held by the publishing house, and then were invited to a party. At the party at the mansion, Giovanni and the owner's daughter Valentina Gherardini (played by Monica Vitti) were having a heated argument, and Lidia witnessed the scene of the two kissing. Later, Lidia also started dancing with another man Where will this couple's marriage go? This film won the Golden Bear Award at the 1961 Berlin Film Festival.
