Description
Plot Summary
Psychologist Chris Kelvin (played by Donatas Banionis) comes to his childhood parents' house to meet the former Solaris pilot Henry Burton (played by Vladislav Dvorzhetsky) before flying to Solaris. Burton warned Kelvin that something incredible would happen on the planet Solaris, but the latter did not take it seriously. Before leaving, Kelvin burned his personal belongings in front of his father (Nikolai Grinko). After arriving at the space station near Solaris, Kelvin investigates the death of scientist Dr. Chibarian (played by Sos Sargsyan), only to discover that his wife Harley (played by Natalya Bondarchuk), who had passed away many years ago, suddenly appeared. Startled, Kelvin discussed with three other scientists on the space station how to deal with strange things, only to find out that everyone was deeply troubled by them and didn't know what to do... This film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prix of the Cannes Film Festival jury and international awards that same year
