Description
Plot Summary
Maximus Mons (played by Russell Crowe) was a renowned and admired general of the Roman Empire, known for his outstanding military achievements. The old king Marcus Aurelius (played by Richard Harris) highly appreciates the Grand General and intends to crown him. The old king's love for the general, which transcends family ties, naturally aroused jealousy and unease from the crown prince, Commoduus. The crown prince seized the opportunity to kill his father, ascended to the throne first, and immediately ordered the execution of the general's family. Maximus narrowly escaped death from the tyrant's clutches, but all of his family members were not spared and returned home. He only saw a scene of devastation and ruin. With no other options, Maximus could only devote himself to slavery, transforming from a former general to a gladiator, struggling to survive in bloody battles. With his heroic spirit and superb martial arts, Maximus gradually stood out and advanced to the Colosseum in Rome. This time, his sword was aimed directly at the tyrant Commodus, and the pain of losing loved ones and the humiliation of being enslaved ignited a raging anger in Maximus' heart.
