Plot Summary

Li Zhentai (played by Zhang Dongjian) is a shoemaker living in Seoul, and his family's livelihood depends on the cost of repairing shoes. Although not materially affluent, this is a very warm and complete family. My wife Li Yingshun (played by Li Enzhu) and mother run a noodle shop, and they also take care of their younger siblings on a daily basis. My younger brother Li Zhenxi (played by Yuan Bin) is the hope of the family and is currently studying in high school. Getting into college is his dream, and he is also the refuge of his older brother Zhentai. However, with the sudden outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, the peaceful life was quickly disrupted. The war spread to Seoul, and Zhentai decided to take his family to live in Daegu to escape the conflict. But halfway through, they were forcibly conscripted into the army and taken on a train bound for the front line of the Luodong River. From then on, the family was torn apart. On the battlefield, Zhentai had only one wish left: to protect his younger brother at all costs with his life. When he heard that his brother could be exempted from service as long as he received a national medal, he rushed to the forefront of the battle like a madman.
